Andrew Perkins
Andrew Perkins is Co-Founder of Hazaña Hotel Advisory and has over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Originally from Australia, I have lived and worked in Australia and Asia Pacific in a variety of roles including Asia Pacific wide responsibilities and have over 20 years’ experience in Asia in Development, Real Estate, Finance, Marketing and Operational roles.
I have two undergraduate degrees, an MBA (distinction) and am a member of the Asia Pacific chapter of the Hotel Asset Managers Association and the Australian Society of CPA’s.
Prior to founding Hazaña Hotel Advisory, I was based in Tokyo and headed up Hilton’s real estate portfolio in the Asia Pacific region. In this role, I had oversight of hotel acquisition and divestment, capital planning and investment including hotel repositioning and routine capital planning, as well as hotel asset management and spent considerable time with leasehold hotels including midterm lease restructuring, debt restructure, JV buyout and renegotiation of key agreements. I worked collaboratively with the wider management team to achieve superior operational performance that oversaw the turnaround of the Japan portfolio from loss making, to becoming the highest returning assets of Hilton globally. I worked with Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare to establish its first operation in Asia Pacific, established a finance shared service center, took over several hotels from other operators and opened numerous hotels.
Prior to joining Hilton, I worked with Starwood (now Marriott), Rendezvous and Radisson hotel companies in various regional development and finance functions, as well as hotel finance, marketing, and operations roles.
Since starting Hazaña, I have personally overseen asset management of various hotels and resorts, conducted due diligence on acquisitions, conducted brand and operator selection for individual assets and portfolios as well as supported asset divestment.
I am married with two children and in my spare time, I keep fit and occasionally run ultramarathons across mountain ranges or deserts.
